To be submitted in person at the end of each lecture.

In each lecture, look for some item that you find noteworthy. Perhaps it is surprising or unexpected. Perhaps it is just an idea that you find intriguing. Or perhaps there is some other reason that the item attracts your attention.

To get credit for the nugget, you should write it down on the nugget form provided in the lecture and submit it in person. You should explain why you found the nugget noteworthy. The nugget should be explained in a complete, grammatically correct sentence or sentences and IN YOUR OWN WORDS.

The purpose of this nugget exercise is to encourage you to come to lectures and pay attention to the content. For this reason, nuggets are only accepted if submitted in person at the end of the related lecture on the forms supplied. Nuggets are not accepted from students who did not attend the related lecture.

Your name:

Lecture: "Einstein's Pathway to Special relativity"

Nugget: Einstein was led to think about time and light signals only after he had spent years struggling with problems in electrodynamics. This is surprising since the popular idea is that Einstein started work on special relativity by thinking about time and light signals.
