The Center for Philosophy of Science organizes a symposium on Edouard Machery's book Doing without Concepts (Oxford University Press) to celebrate its release in 2009. In Doing without Concepts, Edouard Machery argues that the dominant psychological theories of concepts fail to provide a framework for our knowledge about the mind, and that drastic conceptual changes are required to make sense of the research on concepts in psychology and neuropsychology. Psychologist Barbara Malt and Philosopher Jesse Prinz will comment on the book, and Edouard Machery will reply to their comments. Everybody's welcome to this symposium.
