Geometrical Aspects of Local Gauge Symmetry

Abstract:
Recently, many efforts have been made by philosophers of physics
to clarify the nature of the local gauge symmetry. This work is
justified because this symmetry, which is at the center of all field
theories that model fundamental interaction, is, in many respects,
different from the symmetries we usually encounter in physics. In
this talk, I will expose some aspects of this symmetry using a geometrical
approach, hoping to make clearer its physical status. This work
seems to me a nice complement to studies already done using constrained
Hamiltonian formalism and other studies analyzing the gauge principle.
