Abstract:
For years now feminists have been reflecting on science in ways
that should grab the attention of philosophers of science, but have
thus far failed to do so. These ways of reflecting on science raise
important questions regarding the social responsibility of science,
questions that provide philosophers of science with a richer, more
socially valuable program of research than the programs pursued
at present. I shall sketch out some of the main differences between
this new program for philosophy of science and the programs pursued
at present. I shall also sketch out some of the ways the superiority
of the new program can be defended.
