Meggido Excavations pictures

An excavated silo for grain storage, with steps leading down.

This shot shows a couple of levels of the "tel," one built over the previous one. This is basically the "structure" of the tel.

An excavated stone manger used at one point in the history of the tel. It looked to be just the right size for a newborn baby to lie in the hay. Beside it is a "hinge" rock. The upright post of a gate was set into the carved out space so that the gate could be swung open or closed.

Another manger or water trough, with a stone to which you could tie up your steed! This was probably at the site of King Ahab's stable.

Modern steps down the shaft to the tunnel which led to the source of water used during a siege.
