Every room (including bathrooms) had flower pots containing growing, flowering orchids.

This is the pet lizard that lived with us in our house. (Here, she's on the wall between the top of the curtains and the ceiling.) We called her "Sali" (short for salamander). She was noisy and would "cluck" at us from time to time.
