Sandstone Reclining Buddha
This is probably the most primitive of all the Buddha statues we saw. It is also off the beaten track. Like other reclining Buddhas it represents the point of reaching Nirvana. It is the oldest Buddha in this position, made in the 7th century AD.

Being somewhat out of the way, there is probably not as much traffic, but note the few applications of gold leaf (a merit-making activity) and the Ring of Jasmine. Workers were in the process of making it more accessible for visitors.
