Project Open Hand

 

Location: Atlanta, Georgia

Organization's Mission:    Project Open Hand's mission (www.projectopenhand.org) is to provide freshly cooked meals and nutrition services to people living with symptomatic HIV/AIDS, homebound seniors and individuals with critical illnesses or disabilities.  The kitchen is the heart of Project Open Hand and operates seven days a week.

Nature of the Work:    Prepare and deliver freshly cooked meals to people with AIDS/HIV.

Transportation:    Driving in a van; approximately 13 hours

Accommodations:    Youth hostel with 2-6 people per room. Meals will be prepared as a group.

Possible Activities:    Opportunity to explore downtown Atlanta; hostel is right across from the Fox Theatre.

Number of Participants   10

Cost:    $100 per person*

Duration of the trip:    Saturday, March 2 - Saturday, March 9

Special Considerations:    There will be some interaction with people with HIV and AIDS.

                There are 2 spots reserved for 21 year olds willing to drive the van.


    * Program cost includes Student Government Board’s funding.
