Directions
to the Observatory
The Allegheny Observatory is located in
Riverview
Park
which is on the north side of Pittsburgh in the Observatory Hill section.
Riverview Park
is located at the end of Riverview Avenue, just off Perrysville Avenue (US Route19).
Riverview
Park
is included on virtually all maps of the City of Pittsburgh.
From the North
You can reach the Observatory
from the North by taking route I-279 South to Exit 5 (Perrysville).
Make a right turn onto
Perrysville Avenue
(US Route 19), go South on Perrysville for approximately 1.5 miles to Riverview Avenue. Turn right onto
Riverview Avenue
which will take you into
Riverview
Park. The Observatory is situated on the
hill at the right of the Park entrance.
From the South
From the South take Route I-279
North to Exit 3 ( Hazlett Street). At the end of the
Hazlett Street
ramp you will be facing East Street. Turn left onto
East Street. You will pass three stoplights at
Milroy, Mt.
Pleasant and Venture Streets. At the
fourth stop light, East Street
makes a left diagonal turn: make
that turn and continue to follow East Street
up the hill. At the top of the hill
you will be facing
Perrysville Avenue
(US Route 19): turn left onto
Perrysville and proceed for approximately one half mile to Riverview
Avenue.
Turn right onto Riverview
which will take you into
Riverview
Park. The Observatory is situated on the
hill at the right of the Park entrance.
From East and West
Travel to Route I-279 and follow directions from either North or South depending
on your direction of approach.
