Highway 13

Since first getting together on a bet to play on New Year's Eve '94/95, Highway 13 has
been tearing it up at clubs and bars all over the east coast, playing their own mix of
original rockabilly, blues, psychobilly and rock'n'roll songs.

Originally a 5-piece, these veterans of Pittsburgh's punk and alternative scene released
a 7" before paring down to the current 3-piece lineup of Woody Bond (guitar & vocals),
Blair Powell (upright bass) and latest addition Wes White (drums), formerly of The
Harmonaires. In the years since, they've been writing dozens of songs, drinking gallons
of beer, and playing anywhere that will have them.

Over the last few years Highway 13 has shared the bill with such acts as Bill Haley's Comets,
Wanda Jackson, The Big Six, Ronnie Dawson, The Damned, The Meteors, Southern Culture on the
Skids, Johnny Legend, Los Straitjackets, Robert Gordon, The Flat Duo Jets, El Vez, Big Sandy
& the Fly Rite Boys, Guitar Wolf, The Turbo ACs, The Belmont Playboys, The Hillbilly Hellcats,
and The Frantic Flattops.

Their self-released 7" caught the ear of Get Hip Records, who signed them on, and released
their first CD. This all-original CD, titled "Been Up to the Devil's Business," was recorded
live (no overdubs) in Woody's living room, and was produced and engineered by Grammy
award-winning engineer Dino DiStephano. This live recording captures the live sound and
intensity of Highway 13, warts and all.

Since the release of their first CD, Highway 13 has been featured on several compilations.
The Highway 13 original "She's Got Everything" is featured on "Friday Nite Rumble," and
"Flat Top Joint" is featured on the Blasters tribute album "Blastered," both on Run Wild Records,
and a track was featured on Rockabilly Hall of Fame Vol 2.

In '‘99 Highway 13 released their latest CD, "Thrill Show," also on Get Hip Records. This new
slice of greasy heaven contains 17 more original songs about cars, girls, booze, and cars. Once
again engineered by DiStephano, it features a cleaner sound, and more varied songwriting. Pour
yourself some sour mash and enjoy!
