Mexicaltzingo: Arqueología de un reino culhua-mexica. Volumen I

by Raúl Avila López

The research reported in this book, which was awarded the Alfonso Caso prize in 2002, paints Mexicaltzingo as a proud prehispanic kingdom with its own monuments and its own history, as witnessed by the Mexica when they passed through the Culhuaque kingdoms. In 1967 Eduardo Matos excavated the remains of a stucco-covered sloping wall (talud), in the Mexicaltzingo civic and religious center. Later in the 20th century, salvage excavations gathered additional information on architecture, chinampas, and the sequence of construction in the urban area. In Spanish.
