Excavaciones en El Arbolillo

by George C. Vaillant

Due to its proximity to Zacatenco and Ticomán, El Arbolillo was chosen by Vaillant to continue the program of stratigraphic excavations undertaken by the American Museum of Natural History, in order to complete the chronological framework for the cultures of the Valley of Mexico. The site had been discovered in 1910 by Franz Boas, who described several artifacts. Kroeber also commented on ceramic remains found on the surface of the site. Then in 1931 excavations took place and the periods known as El Arbolillo I, II, and III were defined. This volume is the Spanish translation of the original 1935 English publication. Its relevance derives from its advances in the definition of temporal markers based on figurines, and the inclusion of an appendix with previous prospecting studies by Thomas Rowe, from the east of Mexico City to the Pedregal de San Angel and the pyramid of Cuicuilco. In Spanish.
