Arqueología marítima en México: Estudios interdisciplinarios en torno al patrimonio cultural sumergido

edited by Vera Moya Sordo

The main objective of maritime archaeology is to understand the different cultural, social, political, economic, and religious aspects related to the activities of people on the sea. From this perspective, Mexican seas hold an enormous legacy of knowledge spanning from prehistory to modern times. Being a relatively new discipline (a little more than 30 years in Mexico), maritime archaeology faces the challenge of establishing its own theories, reconnaissance methods and techniques, systematic excavation and registration of contexts, as well as the interpretation and conservation of materials from aquatic environments. This volume not only represents a contribution to this effort but also provides a significant sample of the work in maritime anthropology that is currently being done in Mexico. In Spanish.
