Arqueología del Periodo Formativo en la cuenca baja de Lurín

edited by Richard L. Burger and Krzysztof Makowski

During the past century, the Lurin valley near Lima has witnessed archaeological discoveries that have changed the perception of Peru's prehispanic past. The investigations of the first occupations of the valley--which precede by several centuries the monumental constructions in Pachacamac, Lurin's famous oracle--have provided new knowledge of the functioning of the ceremonial centers, and of the diet and subsistence strategies of the societies that built them in pre-Chavín times. In addition, the new research establishes links between the central coast and the north-central highlands between 1800 B.C. and 300 A.D. as well as contributing to an understanding of the social changes that took place after Chavín's demise. In Spanish.
