Arqueología de la guerra en la batería de San Felipe: Isla de Tierra Bomba-Cartagena de Indias, siglo XVIII

by Carlos del Cairo Hurtado

Archaeological approach to the British attack on the port of Cartagena de Indias, Colombia, in 1741. A study of military buildings, urban features of the garrison town, multiple tactical modifications of the natural environment of the bay, and the evidence of numerous attacks by pirates and naval powers. This landscape developed from the time of the Spanish conquest to the end of the 18th century in and around Cartagena, the city considered the key to the Indies. The causes of the premature destruction of the Spanish defensive works on the island of Tierra Bomba are investigated by combining archaeological study of the remains of the military construction (the Batería de San Felipe) and the material and documentary evidence of the battle of 1741. In Spanish.
