Anthracite

Anthracite is metamorphosed coal. It is harder, shinier, and breaks with a more conchoidal (curved) fracture than normal (bituminous) coal.

This anthracite shows the black color, shiny surfaces, and curved conchoidal fractures that characterize good anthracite coal.
This is a similar piece to above, but photographed against a black background. It is very black stuff.
