Dr. Doswell's research focuses on the influence of psychosocial
factors, contextual stressors, and family structure (father absence) on pubertal development in pre-teen African-American girls.
A more global title of the project is, Psychosociobiological Aspects of Puberty in Pre-Teen African-American girls . She is
interested in health promotion activities to slow the acquisition of high risk sexual behavior in this group.

Dr. Doswell received her B.S.N. from Loma Linda University and she received her M.A. in Nursing and Ph. D. in Nursing from New York University.
