Mobile Communication Systems

Winter   2005 Course Schedule

The objective of this course is to provide a overview of  mobile communication systems.. This course  qualitatively introduces the principles  of wireless communications and how they differ from wired communications.  The course covers fundamental concepts,  such as, transmission and mitigation techniques  for wireless systems, multiplexing techniques,  wireless system architectures,  mobility management, handoff, security and  protocols.  Systems studied in detail include: cellular phone networks GSM and UMTS, WLANs, and WPANs (Bluetooth).
