Mush started as porridge made with meal boiled in water or milk until it thickens. Around the 1840s mush became a state of matter that was soft or mashed. Not until 1859 did mush changed meanings again, to mean the mouth and then later to indicate the whole head. Mush is a word created by one of my friends to describe the facial expression and feeling of embarrassment and excitement. It is most commonly related to a funny facial form or blushing. For instance, after and attractive person of your interest talks to you and you turn pink or have that glistening look, one might say you have mush. Or another example might be, if you are telling a story and spit while talking and everyone one laughs at the spit flying out your mouth, a person might get mush. I hear the term mush being used more often, and it has only begun to build with time. In the future mush is going to be a popular as the slang words cool or dope.
