Homework assignments
IMPORTANT! It is assumed by default that you read at least twice and carefully the corresponding section with all the examples in the textbook before you start doing your homework assignment or practice problems.
There are no written assignments. You do your homework in Lon-Capa. At the login prompt, enter your usual Pitt username
and for the password prompt type in your Pitt password. Instructions on using Lon-Capa will be given by TAs during your first lab session.
If you need assistance in solving Lon-Capa problems ask your TA first. If your TA couldn't help you then ask me.
My suggestions:
Calculus is not an easy subject. I want all of you succeed in this course and here are several my suggestions that will help you to obtain the goal:
- Read the section from the text book before you listen to the lecture.
- Attend the lecture.
- Read the chapter again after the lecture and before you start doing a homework assignment.
- Do homework problems and take quizzes during the recitation.
- Do as many problems as you can from the list of suggested problems given in Schedule and Practice Problems (see the link above).
These problems do not have to be submitted for grading, they are for your practice. Quizzes and exams will contain problems similar to
the suggested problems.
- Visit myself and your TA during the office hours and ask questions.
- Visit Math Assistance Center (MAC) located in O'Hara Student Center and ask for help.
- Math is all about solving problems! The more you solve the better!
