From the birth of cinema in the 1890s until the last decades of the 20th century, commercial filmmaking was an industry with very few women in directorial roles—and figures like Lois Weber, Dorothy Arzner or Ida Lupino were exceptions to the rule. The onset of the 21 st century, however, found the situation changed and many female directors working all over the world. This series seeks to present films by four of them (Marina Kudlacek, Coline Serreau, Rebecca Miller and Jane Campion)—with a fifth (Maya Deren) as the subject of one of the works screened. |

Admission is FREE. All movies will be screened at 7:00pm in the 7th floor auditorium of Alumni Hall (4227 Fifth Ave.)
