5th Annual Summer Course for Crystallography
July 28-Aug. 7, 1996, Pittsburgh, PA. The Course will emphasize the basics of crystallography
and will be divided between lectures and laboratory sessions. It will involve primarily the
determination of small-molecule structures with samples brought by participants. There will be
several lectures on protein crystal growth and the phase problem in macromolecular structures.
The university has single-crystal diffractometers with the associated structure determination
software packages from all three major vendors (Enraf Nonius CAD-4; Siemens P3 and Rigaku
AFC -5). Air-conditioned dormitory accommodations will be available. For application forms
and further information contact Prof. Bryan Craven, Dept. of Crystallography, U. of Pittsburgh,
