The SPM in the lab carries almost all of the features available. It has three scanners, a smaller scanner (2 μm scanning range) for scanning tunnelling microscopy, a mid-size scanner (10 μm scanning range) for high resolution atomic force microscopy, and a larger scanner (100 μm scanning range) with closed loop control for large area atomic force microscopy and nanolithography. Several advanced modules are also included in the system such as Potentiostat for electrochemistry study, MAC Module for imaging under liquid by driving cantilever magnetically, PicoTREC Module for single molecular recognition, and Heating Stage for controlling sample temperature. It also includes a modified SPM controller, which offers the direct access to all the control signals inside the controller. Typical scan rate for the SPM is 1-2 Hz for good quality images in both contact mode and tapping mode. When using tapping mode in liquid, magnetic driven cantilevers are used to obtain stable resonant frequency, which is the significant advantage of the Agilent 5500 SPM System.
It is a 6 DOF force reflected joystick that can be used for haptic control. The PHANTOM joystick combined with the Agilent 5500 SPM forms the Nano-Robotic Platform, which provides real-time visual feedback through an augmented reality interface during manipulation of nano-objects. The joystick serves as a command input and force feedback device.
The
IX71's modular frame and optical design provides 9 access ports for
multiple input or output devices. Up to four ports can have
simultaneous access to a primary image. The IX71 system can easily
accommodate multi-wavelength, advanced fluorescence techniques. The
IX71 microscope has been integrated with the Agilent 5500 SPM system to
facilitate the operation of the SPM system.
The 96000 is intended for the researcher who needs to closely simulate the sun’s spectra, but doesn’t need the high output of Solar Simulators. The 96000 uses a 150 W ozone free xenon lamp, and produces a 1.3-inch (33 mm) diameter collimated beam. Optional air mass and bandpass filters can be added to re-shape the spectral output. It generates more than 1 sun power with an AM1.5G filter installed.
The Keithley 2601 is a new model of voltage and current source/meter. It provides I-V functional test and characterization of a wide range of devices with accuracy of 1pA.
Its chamber can maintain a vacuum level or can be purged with gases. It is ideal for protected annealing process.
Other instruments include a Tektronix 100MHz function generator, an HP 150 MHz oscilloscope, a four-channel 150MHz Tektronix oscilloscope, and 5 PCs.
