The goal of our
outreach is to attract high school students to engineering program
Countless
studies have shown
that the most effective scientific education comes through inquiry,
experimental design,
and hands-on implementation. Unfortunately, there are limited
opportunities for
high school students to be exposed to the state of the art in science
and technology
in class. It is crucial that students should be offered
hands-on learning experiences,
from which they can directly engage with higher education, acquire
problem solving
skills, build up their feeling of confidence to continue their study on
science and technology beyond high school.
To
achieve this goal, the Pricinple Investigator Prof. Guangyong Li has
established a strong collabration with Mr. John Hartman, a physics
teacher at Indiana Area Senior High School, Indiana PA, to promote
creativity and scientific interest of high school students by the
following activities:
Creat a robotics club at Indiana Area Senior High
School
Creat a solar cell club at Indiana Area Senior High
School
Develop a augmented
virtual lab for high school students
Invite Mr. Harman and
his students to do research in PI's lab in the summer
