Interesting Professional Society

The American Society of Mechanical Engineers is the leading organization for mechanical engineers in the country. They aim to promote the art, science, and practice of mechanical engineering by continuing education, professional development,codes and standards, research, publications, government relations, and other forms of outreach.

• Who are the members of this society?
• ASME has branched off to include many student run chapters throughout colleges nationwide. It has allowed thousands of mechanical engineering students to get a head start on building skills and making connections in their future field.
• ASME allows both college faculty and engineers in industry to have the advantage to connect and collaborate with other peers in mechanical engineering.
• Mechanical Engineering technicians can be members as well, along with a range of related fields in engineering.
• Why does this association exist?
• ASME is committed to providing all forms of information and aid to allow the field to reach its full potential. The ASME Foundation is a charity committed to developing programs that support and advance the field of mechanical engineering.
• Besides its yearly International Mechanical Engineering Congress and exposition that showcases and discusses the newest innovations in the field, ASME also holds conferences dealing with heat transfer, fuel cells, hydraulics, 3D printing, and other topics.
• ASME releases hundreds of published papers and articles dealing with topics in mechanical engineering like medical devices, 3D printing, tips for MechE students, and other impressive accomplishments.
