A Family Torn Apart
My Parents are huge PSU sports fanatics. We travel to all the home games at Beaver Stadium in a motor home covered in Penn State decals and colors. I live an hour from State College and our family has been attending all the home games for as long as I can remember. Tailgating was always fun when me and my sister were younger, and now that we're grown and I go to Pitt, it's turned into somewhat of a inner-family rivalry.
I currently attend the University of Pittsburgh main campus and enjoy every single moment. Since I was raised in and around the Penn State lifestyle I felt the need to be different, I needed to do something on my own. Pitt is the perfect school for me based on location and size. I was looking for something away from the eastern part of the state, but not something too far off that it would take forever to make a weekend trip home.
My sister is now a graduate doctoral student at Michigan State University, which adds one more school to our family list. My family is now going to have one more game to travel to in the motor home, the Mighigan State-Penn State football game. Talk about turmoil, my sister having attended both of them at one point of her life. It will be interesting to see who she cheers for, but knowing me, I'll be cheering for Michigan State. If i've learned one thing being a Pitt student, it's that you ALWAYS root against PSU!
