jane bio photo Jane Schell, MD MHS, is a nephrologist and palliative care educator at the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Schell developed a nationally recognized palliative care communication training for nephrology fellows called NephroTalk. Dr. Schell is a faculty member of VitalTalk. Dr. Schell received funding from the ASN William and Sandra Bennett Clinical Scholars Program to develop and innovative curriculum on conservative care for nephrology fellows
cohen bio photo Robert Cohen, MD, is a nephrologist and educator at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Harvard Medical School. Dr. Cohen has developed a palliative care communication training for nephrology fellows called Harvard Nephrology Fellows Communication Course. Dr. Cohen is a faculty member of VitalTalk and the Academy for communication in Healthcare. Dr. Cohen receives funding from the Bernstein Family Fund, Beth Israel/Harvard Medical School.
bob bio photo Bob Arnold, MD, is a Distinguished Service Professor in the Division of General Internal Medicine and Director of the Section of Palliative Care and Medical Ethics in the School of Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh. For almost 30 years, he has worked at the interface of communication skills training, medical ethics, and palliative care, in an effort to improve clinicians’ communication skills. Dr. Arnold is co-founder for VitalTalk non-profit communication skills training.
marie bio photo Marie Norman, PhD, is an online learning expert and co-author of the well-known teaching text, How Learning Works: Seven Research-Based Principles for Smart Teaching. She directs the Innovative Design for Education and Assessment (IDEA) Lab at the University of Pittsburgh’s Institute for Clinical Research Education, where she and her team help faculty develop novel online and technology-enhanced courses and programs.
