The data files BUR.TXT and BUR.XLS contain data on all the burials from excavations at El Venado. BUR.TXT is an ASCII text file; BUR.XLS contains the same data in the form of an Excel spreadsheet. Each line represents one burial. There are 34 lines in the text file, each with 48 variables separated by commas. The variables are, in the following order:

The first line of the ASCII text file, for example, looks like this:

The tomb was 60 cm deep and its entrance was 45 cm wide and 70 cm long, with no diameter measurement. 2 rocks were included as tomb furniture. The age of the individual is unknown. There was no cranial deformation; the skeleton was articulated. Red ochre pigment was not used. The body was oriented at 200 degrees clockwise from north, in a horizontal flexed position, not in a vertical flexed position. There was 1 intentionally broken vessel, and no complete vessels. The tomb dates to the Late Herrera period. Altogether, it contained 1 artifact; it contained 1 ceramic vessel. The body was not wrapped; its sex could not de determined. The total number of beads was 0. The total number of different categories of objects represented was 1.

It was 40 cm deep; there is no measurement for the width or length of the entrance; but rather a diameter measurement of 90 cm. The tomb furniture included 0 rocks. The tomb's occupant was 40-44 years old. There was no cranial deformation. The skeleton was articulated; red ochre pigment was not used. The body was oriented 80 degrees clockwise from north, in a horizontal flexed position, not a vertical flexed position. There were no intentionally broken vessels, no complete vessels, no imported ("foreign") vessels, no local vessels, no terrestrial snails, no marine snails, no shell beads, no bone beads, no stone beads, no gold beads, no European beads, no bone artifacts, and no atlatls. There was 1 animal bone, but no lithic artifacts, pieces of quartz, spindle whorls, or metates. Altogether there was 1 local item and no imported ("foreign") items. No items were located near the head; 1, near the trunk; and none near the feet. The tomb dates to the Early Muisca period. The total number of artifacts was 1, and the the total number of ceramic vessels was 0. The body was not wrapped; it was a female. The total number of beads was 0, and the number of different categories of objects was 1.
