This dataset complements the book Prehispanic Change in the Mesitas Community: Documenting the Development of a Chiefdom's Central Place in San Agustín, Huila, Colombia by Víctor González F. (available from University of Pittsburgh Latin American Archaeology Publications). It provides detailed data on the quantities of artifacts recovered in each individual shovel probe excavated in the Mesitas community and discussed in full in the printed volume.

These data files are organized in the form of ASCII text files that can be read directly or easily imported to an application program such as a database manager or statistics package. |
| Shovel Probe Data: Quantitative information on the coordinate location and artifacts recovered in each individual shovel probe. | Household Data: The same kinds of information provided for individual shovel probes but aggregated by household units as used in the analysis in the text. |

In addition there are maps providing information on topography and the locations of shovel probes. These are provided as AutoCAD DXF files. |
