The Fúquene Project dataset complements the book Regional Archaeology in the Muisca Territory: A Study of the Fúquene and Susa Valleys by Carl Henrik Langebaek Rueda (available from the University of Pittsburgh Latin American Archaeology Publications). It consists of the detailed data from the regional survey carried out by the Fúquene Project and discussed in full in the printed volume, whose contents are as follows:

CONTENTS OF THE DATASET

These data files are organized in the form of ASCII text files that can be read directly or easily imported to an application program such as a database manager or statistics package. Please notice that the first ASCII file corresponds to an actual data file with cases and variables, while the other files are AutoCAD ASCII files (.DXF files), which have been saved with the extension .TXT, because this makes it easier for some Web browsers to download them correctly, and will probably need to be renamed with the extension .DXF before they are used.

A total of 1,759 survey collection lots of the Fúquene project contained ceramics (see Chapter 2). This is an ASCII file, named CERAM.TXT, that contains the number of sherds of each ceramic type in each survey collection lot.

Topographic information for the Fúquene project area is provided in the file TOPO.TXT in the form of a contour map (see Langebaek 1995a, Fig. 2.6). This AutoCAD map contains 14 layers of data. A low-resolution map is also available for rapid on-line review.	Geological information is provided in the file GEOL.TXT (see Langebaek 1995a, Fig. 3.1). The locations of the soilscapes are provided in the file SOILSCAP.TXT (see Langebaek 1995a, Fig. 3.3). This AutoCAD map contains four layers of data. The grid system according to which parts of the Fúquene analysis were carried out is provided in the file GRID.TXT (see Langebaek 1995a, Fig. 2.7). This AutoCAD map contains four layers of data. A low-resolution map is also available for rapid on-line review.	Locations of all of the collection lots by number are provided in the AutoCAD file LOTS.TXT (see Langebaek 1995a, Fig. A1.1). Each collection lot is an AutoCAD block. The name of the block is the collection lot number (corresponding to the numbers of the collection lots in the ceramics data file CERAM.TXT). Site numbers (defined as groups of contiguous collection lots) are also provided. A low-resolution map is also available for rapid on-line review.
HERRERA.TXT is an AutoCAD map that provides the locations of all collection lots with ceramics of the Herrera Period (see Langebaek 1995a, Fig. 4.2). Collection lot site numbers are not included. EMUISCA.TXT is an AutoCAD map that provides the locations of all collection lots with ceramics of the Early Muisca Period (see Langebaek 1995a, Fig. 5.1). LMUISCA.TXT is an AutoCAD map that provides the locations of all collection lots with ceramics of the Late Muisca Period (see Langebaek 1995a, Fig. 6.1). Collection lot site numbers are not included. COLONIAL.TXT is an AutoCAD map that provides the locations of all collection lots with ceramics of the Colonial Period (see Langebaek 1995a, Fig. 7.1). Collection lot site numbers are not included.
