Access to Water Maps

The areas within 300 m of the Río Páez or the Río La Plata and their principal tributaries in the central and eastern survey zones are provided in two GIS formats: Idrisi (Version 14--Kilimanjaro) and GEOTIFF raster files. These are compressed self-extracting files for Windows, and thus must be uncompressed on a computer running the Windows operating system. After downloading, place the files in the desired folder and double click them. Each Idrisi compressed file will produce two files with the same name and the extensions .RST and .RDC. Each GEOTIFF compressed file will produce two files with the same name and the extensions .TIF and .TFW. The cell values in the GIS files are as follows:

  • 0 = Outside survey zone
  • 1 = More than 300 m from principal stream
  • 2 = Within 300 m of principal stream

For Idrisi files, click here to download the file CENTRAL_WATER_IDRISI.EXE (37 Kb) or the file EASTERN_WATER_IDRISI.EXE (51 Kb) and ask your Web browser to save it to a disk. (Return here with your browser's BACK button if necessary.)

For GEOTIFF files, click here to download the file CENTRAL_WATER_TIFF.EXE (38 Kb) or the file EASTERN_WATER_TIFF.EXE (53 Kb) and ask your Web browser to save it to a disk. (Return here with your browser's BACK button if necessary.)
