WEB PAGE DESIGN

INTRODUCTION

Once you have done your paper design of your web site, you are ready to begin creating pages. Actually this is not a difficult task if you have done your homework and carefully planned how each page should look and function. In this module we will look at some of the basic rules for page design and layout as well as how to go about including graphics and photographs in your site. Of course, a lot of these rules and guidelines really go into the storyboard stage rather than waiting until you are sitting at the computer, but once you understand the basics, the storyboard process will go very easily.

OBJECTIVES

In this module you will:

• Develop a knowledge of basic screen/page design principles and organization skills.
• Be able to effectively layout a web page.
• Understand how to create functional navigation options in your web pages.
• Be able to make choices of appropriate colors and backgrounds for your pages.
• Understand the common graphic formats and standards.
• Know how to acquire and incorporate basic graphics into web pages.
