Video Project Proposal

I plan to interview two people about their experiences with liminality. It will be a medium close-up of one person at a time against a white background. I will ask them the following questions: (1) How does your split identity affect the way you interact with others? (2) How might you characterize your split identity -- is it something you think about daily? Is it basically unthought about? (3) Do you identify one way more than another? (4) (For the biracial man) What do you write on paperwork? (5) Have you felt unbelonging because of your identity, or does it not matter?

I will include close-ups of their faces and extreme close-ups of parts of their faces (the top left quadrant of the woman’s, the right side of the man’s), which will be intercut with shots of them during the interview as well as shots of them driving, which will be captured using a mount on the windshield. There will also be static shots of doorways, including the entrance to the woman’s apartment, the frame between the kitchen and living room, the car door, the large window in the woman’s apartment.

The audio will be the continuous interview and a light background soundscape of a bus.
