Final Exam Information

The final exam will be held on Wednesday April 23 from 2:00 to 3:50 pm at LAWRN 121 (This is the David Lawrence building). Please be there a few minutes before 2:00 since the exam will start promptly at 2:00 pm. Please bring: Note that no formula sheet will be allowed.

Here is a practice final given last year in pdf format. There is not guaranty, implied or explicit, that our final will be similar to this one. I post it here for your benefit as a good source of practice problems.


Here is a Practice Exam #3. The file is in Microsoft Word format. This exam was given in an evening session during the past year. It was planned for 75 minutes. Our exam will be scaled down to 50 minutes.


Due to popular demand I will hold special office hours this week (until Friday March 21) to go over questions in Exam 2. Please send me an e-mail leting me know that you are coming. Here are the additional office hours this week:

Wednesday March 19: From 1:00 pm to 1:50 pm

Thursday March 20: From 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm

Friday March 21: From 11 to 11:50 and 2:00 to 2:50 pm.

Please let me know when you are coming.


Exam 2:

Friday March 14 from 10:00 to 10:50 in our classroom. The exam was returned on Wednesday March 19. If you did not get your exam in call, please come to my office to pick it up.

Important deadline :

The deadline for W grades is Wednesday March 12. Instructors may not assign W grades to students. Students who wish to withdraw from an undergraduate CAS course without penalty must complete a Monitored Withdrawal from by Wednesday, March 12th. These forms are available in CAS Associate Dean's Office. 140 Thackeray Hall.

Correction to the syllabus:

Section 3.7 does not exist! Therefore, we are in sync with the printed syllabus in spite of the snow day lost.

Monday February 17. The University of Pittsburgh is closed for the day.

Our class today is cancelled. Regular activities (recitation and quizzes) will resume tomorrow.

Exam 1:

The exam was returned in class on Monday February 10. If you did not get your exam then, please get it during office hours. The Teaching Asisstants have the grading key. They will discuss any mathematical questions you might have during recitation. Please address grading questions to me.
