Dr Doral received his MD degree in 1979 from Istanbul University School of Medicine. Following graduation he started his Orthopaedic Surgery residency training at Hacettepe University, Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology. After receiving his Orthopaedic Surgeon degree in 1983, he received training on knee surgery, sports traumatology and arthroscopy at the University of Paris between 1989-1990. He was titled associate professor in 1990 and then professor in 1994 at Hacettepe University.

Dr Doral's main interest is orthopaedic sports medicine and he is currently the chairman of the Department of Sports Medicine at Hacettepe University. He is also the director of the Sports Medicine Center at the Hacettepe University.

He is in the editorial board of many journals including J Orthopedic Science, J ACTA Orthopedica Turcica, J Sports Science and Medicine, J Polish Sports Traumatology Society, J of EFOST, Chinese speaking countries Orthopaedic Journal, JAAOS Turkish, J Turkish Pediatrics. In addition to past and present memberships to many national and international orhopaedic sports medicine societies (ISAKOS, Society of Turkish Orthop. and Traumatology Association, Society of Turkish Orthopaedics & Traumatology, Society of Arthroscopy and Knee Surgery, French Society of Arthroscopy, Belgium Society of Arthroscopy, International Arthroscopy Association, E.S.S.K.A. European Society of Knee Surgery, Traumatology and Arthroscopy, S.O.F.C.O.T. Société Française de Chirurgie Orthopédique et Traumatologique, SICOT, Society of Turkish and Turkish Speaking Countries of Sports Traumatology Arthroscopy and Knee Surgery, Gruppo ITALIANO di Artroscopi, Turkish Sports Traumatology Society, EFORT (European Federation of Orthop. and Traumatology), EFOST (European Federation of Orthop.
