Assistant Professor/Instructor

The Neuromuscular Research Laboratory within the Department of Sports Medicine and Nutrition at the University of Pittsburgh is accepting applications for positions at Assistant Professor or Instructor rankings to support the research agenda with the Department of Defense. These positions are Department of Defense funded and will focus on research related to preventing unintentional musculoskeletal injury and improving physical readiness and performance. Research includes the use of motion analysis, isokinetic dynamometry, musculoskeletal examinations, proprioceptive and balance assessment modalities, metabolic and physiological assessment techniques, and nutritional evaluation and prescription for the purpose of preventing unintentional injury and optimizing physical readiness. Responsibilities will include contribution to the research agenda at the Neuromuscular Research Laboratory (Pittsburgh, PA) or at one of the remote research laboratories (Coronado, CA; Camp Lejeune, NC; Paris Island, SC). The Candidate must hold a minimum of a master’s degree (Instructor) with preference given to candidates with a PhD (Assistant Professor) in a discipline of sports medicine, biomechanics, kinesiology, exercise physiology, athletic training, physical therapy, nutrition, or related field. Desired experience to conduct applied research that is consistent with the research agenda of the Department of Sports Medicine and Nutrition is expected. Demonstrated competency in the area of sports medicine research is required. Evidence of scholarly activities, publications, and presentations and ability to contribute to research agenda as well as develop own research initiative is recommended. Salary is commensurate with experience and all benefits including health insurance, retirement benefits, and tuition discounts at the University of Pittsburgh for both self and family. The positions will be 12 month appointments with options to renew contingent upon review and grant funding. The positions will hold the rank of Assistant Professor (PhD) or Instructor (MS) within the Department of Sports Medicine and Nutrition, School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences.
