7th Quadrennial Fellows Conference 2012
Call for Abstracts, 17 November 2011
The program committee invites proposals for papers to be presented at the Seventh Quadrennial Fellows Conference of the Center for Philosophy of Science, from Tuesday, 12 June to Thursday, 14 June 2012 (arrival Monday 11 June, departure Friday, 15 June), at Muğla University in Muğla, Turkey.
The conference continues the tradition of earlier conferences in reuniting Visiting Fellows, Postdoctoral Fellows, and Resident Fellows of the Center for Philosophy of Science. As a result, proposals are limited to the Center's Visiting Fellows, Postdoctoral Fellows, and Resident Fellows.
Talks in all areas of philosophy of science are invited.
Our present plan is to include both plenary sessions and parallel sessions and proposals for talks must indicate whether they prefer a plenary or parallel session. Talks in plenary sessions will be allocated a short time (15 minutes plus 5 minutes for discussion); whereas talks in the parallel sessions will be allocated a longer time (30 minutes plus 15 minutes for discussion).
We will create a dedicated section of PhilSci-Archive for the conference and speakers will be invited to post preprints of their papers to this website in advance of the conference, if they wish to do so. We hope the opportunity to post a manuscript in advance will enable speakers in the plenary sessions to use their time more efficiently.
To propose a paper, please go to http://goo.gl/HXDGG and enter the following information (contact Bryan Roberts at bwr6@pitt.edu if you encounter any problems):
1. Your name
2. The title of your talk
3. Your choice of plenary or parallel session
4. A 100 word abstract
If you prefer not to present a paper, but would still like to attend the conference or chair a session, please let us know that as well. Please go to the paper proposal link above to indicate this preference.
The conference will follow the tradition of past Quadrennial conferences in that Fellows cover their own travel costs and the conference provides local accommodation. If a letter of invitation from the Center is required in order to secure travel funds from your own university, please let us know and we will be happy to provide one.
Deadline for submission: 29 February 2012
