Abstract: In this talk I will attempt to revive and develop a realist view that has its roots in Duhem, and was later developed by Carrier. The view offered, Benign Convergent Realism (BCR), will navigate around the old pessimistic induction from the history of science (Laudan) as well as the new pessimistic induction (Stanford).   Moreover, I will argue that it does justice to the No-Miracles Argument, in the sense that it does provide an explanation of the success of science.
