Viorel Pâslaru

Viorel Pâslaru is an Associate Professor at the University of Dayton. He received a PhD in Philosophy from the University of Cincinnati (2007). Prior to that he was a fellow of the DAAD at the Humboldt University in Berlin and Assistant Researcher at the Institute of Philosophy of the Romanian Academy. His research examines the explanatory practice of ecologists with the goal of identifying the standards of acceptable explanations in ecology. He has published articles on mechanistic explanation, the explanatory role of laws and mechanisms in ecology, and ecological mechanisms. During his term at the Center, Pâslaru will work on the role of mechanisms in formulating predictions.
