FAQ: Common Student Questions

  • Q. How much work do I need to show on Homework/Exams?

  • A. I'd rather show more (unnecessary) work, rather than to lose points because I omitted it. Professor Bonidie grades all work in this class, so I'd make sure with him during lecture.

  • Enough that your grader can follow your explanation. Consider your audience to be "A CS 441 student who doesn't know why this is true." (Dr. Garrison)

FAQ: Common Student Questions

  • Q. When and How do I use Table 7 in a problem?
  • A. In general, you are allowed to use reference material for the homework, provided you correctly cite/reference them.
    • If a question asks you explicitly to prove one of the properties on Table 7, I expect more than “The given statement is true because it is a Table 7 property.”
    • However, if a question asks you to prove a more specific logical equivalence, and you wish to use one of the properties on Table 7 in that process, you may just write “by Table 7 property” as your reasoning.

FAQ: Common Student Questions

  • Q. When will HW #1 be returned?
  • A. I have no clue. All grading is done by Professor Bonidie.

  • Q. Are Homework Solutions posted somewhere?
  • A. Homework solutions are not posted to protect academic integrity. However, if you would like to verify your work after the due date has passed, (e.g., If you are using it to study for the exam), TAs can go over them during Office Hours.
    • In fact, I suggest you do this since many of the exam questions will be very similar to Homework Problems.
