Planning and Analysis

  • Evaluation on how my current work on the site could be improved to meet class standards and improve design without a total redraw or restructuring
  • Evaluating potential users: Fraternity Brothers, Alumni, Rushees, Family & Friends
  • Focus was centered on making the site as useful as possible for current Brothers. Examples include adding tools such as pictures, calendar, and brothers only section.
  • Site also allows: (1) Individuals to contact brothers (2) Family and Rushees to learn about the Fraternity (3) Alumni to stay up to date and involved with Fraternity progress
  • Fonts: Veranda(text), Georgia(Headings) - Easy to read, nice feel, and soft on the eye
  • Colors: Blue, Gold/Yellow, Black, White - Basic Fraternity Colors
  • Tables: Consistent easy to read
  • Dynamic roll/over navigation buttons and links allow user feedback
  • Footer gives easy access to primary(Home+E-Mail) and external links
  • All of the external links open a new window. The user will never leave the site unless under his/her control.
  • .Mac/iCal online calendars were used to allow easier changing and updating of important dates to calendars. Benefits time wise to outsource such a tool
  • .Mac/iPhoto picture posting was used to allow easier posting and updating of photos.
  • Brother Login allows for secure section where brothers can access private information. A secure java script was found on the internet and altered to the information, look, and feel of the site. The password is "btsig" if you would the inside. Any last name works, its just makes it seem like its more secure than it is.
  • www.FreeFind.com search utility was used to search site. I used it over google because it includes free weekly spidering of the site and free creation of a site map without to much advertising.
  • A very ugly clock java applet was used on the frontpage to fulfill the java applet requirement. The applet was attained freely at http://javaboutique.internet.com/
  • Second Flash movie within the Rush section was freely taken from the fraternities headquarters site for rush purposes.
