The Camp Includes

Carl Zandi, Joe Humphreys, and Steve Skvarka

Instructional Staff
The instruction will be provided by professional teachers. This is an instructional camp that is set up and taught by teachers who have years of fly tying, fly fishing, teaching and coaching experience.


Mr. Carl Zandi

Carl has over 25 years experience with fly tying and fly fishing, as well as 30 years experience as a high school social studies teacher and coach.

Mr. Steve Skvarka

Steve has over 20 years of fly tying and fly fishing experience, as well as 20 year of experience as a K-12 physical education and driver education teacher and coach.


Both of the above instructors organized and taught the first Kinzua Fly Fishing School held at the University of Pittsburgh Bradford Campus. In 1988, they attended the Penn State University 30 hour Fly Fishing Workshop, and participated in an 8 hour seminar taught by Charles Meck and Greg Hoover. They also co-teach a one-credit physical education course at the University of Pittsburgh Bradford Campus.


Mr. Joe Humphreys

Joe Humphreys, caught Pa. state record brown trout, (15 pounds) in 1978. He has taught fly tying and fly fishing for many years at Penn State University and served as a private tutor for President Carter. He has authored a number of books and magazine articles and has created numerous video tapes on fly fishing techniques. Joe will be a guest instructor for one day at our camp.
