Desmodus rotundus the vampire bat, distributed through most of Mexico, attacks cattle. It carries rabies virus in the west not the east. Vampires range northwards to Linares, Nuevo Le�n, Mexico. Puerto Rico as clear of rabies from bats deserves some confirmation.

Cats seem to be the number 1 target, yet this estimate must vary greatly by localities around the planet. Foxes, racoons and others per locality remain underinvestigated. Nevertheless, dogs are the usual source of human infections.
