U.S. Population Aged 65 Years and Older, actual and Projected, 1900-2030

The U.S. population, as is true with most developed countries, is aging. Also, the absolute number of older persons is projected to double by 2030 as the large �baby boom� generation ages. However, the absolute number of older persons in developing countries, such as India and China is increasing, as well, so, a worldwide aging challenge exists. Therefore, epidemiologic studies of aging and age-associated diseases have national and international relevance.
