This is part of a 1998 article by Rick Mendosa on the American Diabetes Association web site. The third paragraph discusses Lilly�s proposed discontinuation of Iletin, an insulin produced from animals (beef/pork insulin).  There is an interesting history here�during 1998 a writer first disclosed Lilly�s plans in an article in the ADA�s magazine for its members. The plan then received even wider distribution via the Internet coverage. Lilly, on the other hand, wanted to manage the distribution of this �news,� as you can see by the last paragraph. [In addition, I should mention that you will not find this page, as shown here, on the Internet. I have edited it to get the relevant parts on this slide. (Is this another example of misrepresentation?)]
