As case control
design is usually applied for rare diseases, incidence (proportion �a� in
the table) will be negligible.
Hence, Odd�s ratio which indicates the odds i.e. the number of times an event (disease) can occur (+ve odds) versus number of times it cannot occur (-ve odds) will be useful in these circumstances in the place of RR. |
