Birth certificate follow-back surveys involve identifying children born in a particular geographic area during a defined time period, randomly selecting a sample of these children using birth certificates, locating these children using data sources such as Medicaid datasets, post office addresses, telephone directories or their parents driver�s licenses and then collecting the sampled children�s immunization histories.
