Food prices have come down, although they remain well above levels of just a few years ago.  Yet even as the financial crisis sweeps the food crisis our of awareness, it is essential to recognize that the adequacy of the food supply is -- and will increasingly be -- a critical issue (if not the critical issues) of the 21st century.
