The Methodists rejected all generalities in medical science, while focusing solely on the individual and his/her health problems. Each individual was a unique medical case; thus, knowledge gained from treating other patients was not useful. This obviously put severe limitations on the study of medicine, as past medical wisdom could not be used by the doctor to treat the patient in front of him. |
