Graduate school can be one of life's most rewarding experiences, but it can also lead to frustration and disappointment. The time from a bachelor's degree to a PhD is rarely less than 5 years and is usually longer. On the positive side, however, any reputable graduate program finds at least marginal employment for all of its students by at least their second year. For these reasons and others, students considering graduate school owe it to themselves to proceed with all the deliberation and research that they can. This website is intended to provide some of the information you should be considering, but you should also talk with your advisor as early as possible in your undergraduate career to be sure, first, that it is something you really want to do and, second, that you are giving yourself the best possible preparation for both the admissions process and graduate study itself.
